Very good straight ahead soup, salad and sandwich shop with some breakfast options. Service is good. The chicken salad sandwich is exceptional, with nuts, apples, dried, cranberry, served on a bed of lettuce, tomato, and onion. Yum.

I've gotten sandwiches and salads from Big Salad Shop, and they are ok. I'm not blown away, though I appreciate the dollar or two cheaper than other places in town. But I am mostly less excited than with other salads, so I am not sure it's worth it. The bread for the sandwiches were pretty basic. Most recently, my panini included some ingredients I didn't expect (cheese), which is ok since I like cheese, but that wouldn't be great if you didn't like the taste.

I've been eating more salad as of late so I came here during lunch. I ordered the sesame chicken salad and thought it tasted good, could use a little more chicken. The portion is large and for around $10 it's a decent price.
Service was very quick so I didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes for takeout.

The Big Salad Shop has the best sesame chicken salad I've had elsewhere, such as La Bou and Specialty's.
The chicken is tender, there are apples, fresh almonds, and the crunchy wontons to top it all off among all the other toppings. The sesame dressing is also perfect. It has a great amount of flavor but is not too heavy. At first I thought it was very pricy for a salad, at about $10.50. However, the salad lasted me two meets so it was worth it, and just as good the next day.
I've also been here for breakfast, where I had the avocado, turkey and cheese croissant. I thought the sandwich itself was pretty funky. They used a panini press on the croissant (?) and then the inside of the sandwich was cold while the croissant itself was warm and pressed with panini lines. It was kind of comical.
Overall, I would definitely come back for the salad, but I'd probably think twice about coming back for the breakfast sandwiches here. -

This place is fairly close to my office and I'm always in search of new places for lunch. This place came up in my search and when I saw the "Mediterranean Favorites" on the photo of the menu, I knew it was worth a try. So, you can imagine my disappointment when I got there and there were no Mediterranean favorites. :( I settled for the Woodstock Salad since, as a vegetarian, it seemed like an option that would at least have some protein content (with the sunflower seeds). It is a fairly large salad and I thought was reasonably priced. They haven't reinvented the salad or anything - it was just a typical lunch salad. I would recommend it for a quick option that is in a central downtown location. But, pass it up if you're going for the Mediterranean options.
